Shortly after moving to New York City, guitarist/vocalist Nic Brodine met bassist Jason Rivette while defrosting a turkey in a bathtub. They began performing songs under the name Nail Polish in early 2015, rotating through drummers and the older material Nic had written while still living on the West Coast.
Nail Polish’s take on surf rock and garage borrows as much from the bratty energy of early New York City punk as it does the earnest pop of 50’s rock n’ roll. Their music plays like a piece of bubblegum you picked up off the sidewalk on your way home from a one night stand. A distinct blend of East and West Coast pop, Nic Brodine’s intuitive, off the cuff guitar work is seamlessly buoyed by Rivette’s classically trained vocal harmonies and gritty bass styling. Shameless rock n’ roll for the deliberately disinterested, Nail Polish is a band determined to make the most of two and a half minutes.
